Whether you're a nature lover or outdoor enthusiast, Valley of the Rainbow Mountain Fly Fishing Estate and Nature Reserve is an incredible place to be all year' round. 

Surrounded by mountains, indigenous forests and rivers and with a mild climate and malaria free this is a venue to experience peace and tranquility away from city life. 

 

The venue is near the towns of Dullstroom and Belfast, and is well situated on the premier tourist routes form Johannesburg and Pretoria to the tourist attractions on the eastern escarpment and lowveld regions of Mpumalanga, South Africa. 

Driving distance on the N12/N4 double carriageway from Johannesburg/Pretoria is approximately 2 hours. The diversity of fauna and flora is exceptional for the area, with a variety of birds, indigenous tree species and wildlife species evident.

PROPER CATCH & RELEASE PROCEDURE:
Always use barbless hooks.
Always WET hands before handling live fish.  (Using a Catch & Release tool prevents the angler from having to handle the fish.)
If using a net, only use KNOTLESS nets. 
Do not put the fish on the grass.  Preferably do not remove fish from the water at all.
If posing for a photograph, please insure photographer is ready before removing fish from the water.
If fish is bleeding or can not be revived, please remove.

 

 

 

The Manor House 
Guests have a choice of five rooms each with a comfortable lounge area and a well appointed en-suite bathroom. A spacious lounge with an open fire-place for cold winter evenings, bar, dining room with fire-place, library and TV invites guests to more than home luxuries. GENERAL INFORMATION

Valley of the Rainbow is situated 34 kilometers South West of Dullstroom in the beautiful Konterdanskloof and is renowned for the abundance of Birdlife and indigenous Flora.
We have various historical sites and interesting features such as the Historic Water Mill which is over 100 years old. The Water Mill dates back to the Anglo-Boer War.

The Monks Gates used in the Trout Dams at Valley of the Rainbow are so far known the only ones used in South Africa.  Monks Gates were originally used by Monks in Europe in the breeding of Salmon and it dates back to 1684.

 

The privately owned Sporting Estate and Nature Reserve are in a Malaria & Bilharzia free area.
To the nature lover, we offer liberating and exhilarating walks in the mountains around the valley.
The Bird Watcher will have an indescribable experience at Valley of the Rainbow.  We are home to numerous bird species.
We also offer activities such as Fly fishing and Horse Riding where the expert and the novice can show their skills and luck.

For those just wanting to relax, we have an outside deck overlooking the Witpoort River from where you can watch birds in the surrounding trees or game across the river.

For the bookworm, there is an interesting collection of nature and fly fishing books in the cupboard in the lounge. 
There are also games for your convenience.
