Catering for a maximum of ten guests,
Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge provides comfortable, stylish accommodation in five en-suite bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms have open log fireplaces and all have electrical heating. Children of all ages are welcome and additional accommodation can be arranged for them. Guests have the use of a lounge, bar, library and heated swimming pool, at their disposal.
The Lodge offers some of the finest trout water in the country. Whether fishing the Spekboom River or in either of the three lakes, these waters are well stocked with trout to challenge the most astute Rainbow warrior and beginner alike.
Activities:
Fly Fishing
For relaxation nearly 4 kilometer’s of excellent trout river is available with three large dams provided with stable casting boats. Fly-fishing tuition and tackle is available by arrangement with the manager. Catch and release is practiced. Kills are levied at R40.00 per kilo for Rainbow and R50.00 per kilo for Brown Trout. The lodge staff will gut, weigh and clean your catch. Bag limit of 3 fish per rod per day.
4x4 Trails
Bring your 4x4 along and take a drive along one of the tracks on the farm which varies from the farm road easy track to a track up the mountainside for the more daring and experienced enthusiast. You are likely to come across Kudu, Eland, bushbuck, reedbuck or even some of the smaller antelope, or if you are very lucky, one of the many predator species to be found on the farm. Or take a drive up Masjienkloof and view the vulture nests against the cliffs.
Horseriding
We have 9 horses including Arabians and Thoroughbreds. We have a number of ex polo ponies included in the team. There is a horse to suit every need, from the novice to the more experienced rider. Kiddies can be led around by our very capable grooms, or the grooms can take you out on a site seeing and game viewing ride around the farm.
Clay-pigeon shooting
We have a range for shooting some clay pigeons.
Game viewing
Take your 4x4 on a drive or book a game drive with the open game viewing vehicle. You will see the vulture nests against the cliffs in Masjienkloof, and may be fortunate enough to see Kudu, Eland, Bushbuck, Reedbuck or one of our predators like leopard, jackal or aardwolf.
Hiking
For the hiking enthusiast you are welcome to follow some of the farm tracks around the farm and enjoy seeing an abundance of wildlife and birds. The terrain varies from the easy going to the very difficult strenuous climb.
Tours of the hatchery
Guided tours of the hatchery can be arranged with our in-house trout specialist, Dean. He is a qualified aquaculturist and can give you all the details about the process of trout breeding and cultivating. |
