Lomas Creek is situated on the Steenkampsberg pass near Roossenekal, linked to the highest peak in the province – De Berg at 2331m. 16km from the Aquarius Mine on the R577 (Steenkampsberg Pass) Due to the altitude and cool climate it is ideal for trout fishing and other sporting activities. Breakfast, Lunch Packs and Dinner on request. We also have a restaurant and tavern. Conference and wedding venue is also available.
The Guest Lodge is registered with De-Berg Conservancy and AGRED (African game bird research and development).
The area has a high rainfall, therefore the farm area is well watered by streams & springs forming sponges particularly in the wet land. Water in the streams are clear and fast flowing with consistently high dissolved oxygen supplying the dams. Accommodation is offered at the Guest Lodge with a spacious open plan design and on one level (which senior citizens find very comfortable).The Lodge accommodates 16 people. The kitchen is farm house style equipped with all the appliances The open plan lounge and dining area is very spacious with a communal bar, wood burning fireplace and satellite TV.
The Guest Lodge is serviced daily. All bedding provided , gas stove and oven, outside braai / barbeque.
Cottages - 2 single beds, fully equipped kitchen, microwave, fridge / freezer / limited DSTV channels/ private patio with braai area, overlooking the Steenkampsberg Mountains
ACTIVITIES
FLY-FISHING - The fly-fishing dam is supplied by water from the Steenkampsberg with excellent water clarity and temperature. situated in the wet land area of the farm, offering excellent trout fishing all year round.
MOUNTAIN WALKS – Weather permitting there are many walks to consider. The original Steenkampsberg mountain road is situated on the farm, and meanders up into the berg, with magnificent views from the top. Alternatively there are interesting walks down in the valley through the wet land area.
BIRD WATCHING - There are an abundance of bird species for the keen bird watcher ranging from the bald ibis, malachite sun birds, giant king fishers, paradise fly catchers, red wing partridge. etc.
CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING – For the novice or experienced shot, clay pigeon traps are situated on the hill side. Tuition is available on request.
WING- SHOOTING – There is controlled wing shooting with trained gun dogs, on Lomas Creek and ajoining farms.
